Jamie Renee and Melissa Mika, Texas Licensed Estheticians offer advanced skin care treatments for improving skin. We offer skin treatment customization to fit not only your busy schedule, but also your pocket book. We do not believe quality skin care should be expensive nor out of budget for anyone.

Here at Your Body’s ReTreat, skin care treatments may be enjoyed as a one time, comprehensive facial, or in a series of applications to reach your optimal goals. Remember, healthy, beautiful skin is not achieved in one night. Improving  skin health is achieved with consistent care and focused treatments. Many people will ask me, “How often should I receive a facial?”. My philosophy on skin is simpler than you might imagine. Consistency is key. It is imperative to have a home care regime that you can stick with. Consider a facial or skin care treatment the power punch to your at-home, skin care regime. Without a consistent skin care regiment, the results from your facial will not last near as long. I equate it with spending money on a personal trainer and not spending any time at all in my kitchen cooking healthy meals. The work your trainer can do is quite minimal if all you do is frequent the drive thru. Am I wrong?

Personally, in my opinion, if you only have money to spend on a facial or skin care for your at-home regiment, we would choose the latter. It does NOT have to be complicating nor super expensive. Less can be More. The following is what we recommend:

  • a great cleanser for your skin type
  • a corrective serum (usually Vitamin A based) for the evening
  • a serum rich in antioxidants in the A.M. (Vitamin C, Vitamin E)
  • a wonderful moisturizer (SPF during the day)

Notice that I did not mention using an exfoliating product. Most people are over-exfoliating their skin which compromises their barrier. FYI, if you have something in your shower that has “apricot” in the title, you need to throw it away…or use it as a foot scrub. IF you are obsessed with exfoliating your skin, please use water soluble ingredients. An ingredient like “walnut shell” will create small micro fissures in your skin as it does not dissolve in water. Finely ground oatmeal would be a substitute. If you can begin to ween yourself off of over exfoliation, that will be a healthy start to your home care regime. Leave the exfoliation to me or another qualified Esthetician.

On Using Quality Skincare:

When we are younger, like babies and teens, our skin cell renewal is approximately 28 days. As we age, the skin cell turnover rate slows considerably. Many of us are craving some instant gratification and expect to see results with our topical skin care products and when we don’t see them within a week or two we assume they don’t work and stop using them. Furthermore, if you are using a huge variety of products or you continue to switch abruptly, it will compromise your skins barrier. The reason has much to do with your skin’s PH and the PH of the products. Each skincare line is PH balanced to work synergistically together. When you begin using a new line of skincare, you should use it no less than two months. Personally, I’d give it four-six months. As your skin cell turnover happens you WILL begin to see the improvements. Approach your new skin care goals with some patience and I truly believe you will love your skin more and more each day.

Remember what I just said about the skin’s cellular turnover rate? Well, THIS is where we come in. A facial treatment such as microdermabrasion, enzyme peels, LED, Rezenerate, specialty masks, microcurrent and chemical exfoliation ALL assist to speed this up and COMPLIMENT  the skin care regime you have implemented. Take a look at some of the treatments and facials we offer. We look forward to assisting you with healthier, younger and more vibrant skin!
